What To Bring & Wear

Clothing

While dance uniform is not expected at Dance Northside, it is requested that students wear appropriate and comfortable clothing for dance which accommodates the need to move freely and suitable for the weather conditions. However it is requested that the following guidelines are adhered to. Students should present themselves:
  • In clothing with no offensive slogans
  • With long hair tied back
  • With minimum jewellery
  • In a clean and tidy manner
  • In clothing which is safe for the activity of dance

Costume

Footwear

There is a small costume fee payable by all students for major performances. Parents will be asked to provide a basic simple costume (e.g. black tee-shirts and pants).

NB The uniform and costume policy are in place to minimise the cost of dance clothing which is often expensive and quickly outgrown. If students would like a uniform, Dance Northside singlets are available to order.

Recommended footwear is:
  • Kid's Creative Movement: Bare feet
  • Funk: Light sneakers
  • Contemporary Dance: Bare feet
  • Ballet: Ballet slippers
  • Jazz: Jazz/Ballet shoes or bare feet

NB Dance Northside has a small supply of used ballet slippers and jazz shoes in various sizes. These are available for the students to borrow at no cost.
